Supreme Court Function 04.03.19

Dear colleagues,

You will no doubt be aware that the Supreme Court will visit Galway from Monday the 4 March, 2019 to Wednesday the 6 March, 2019.

This will be the first time that the Supreme Court will sit outside of a courthouse since it returned to the Four Courts in 1932, the first time it sits in Galway and only the third time the court will sit outside of Dublin. The Court will hear two cases while sitting in in the Aula Maxima, NUI Galway, one of which will be an appeal against the decision of An Bord Pleanála to approve the first phase of an €850 million Apple data centre in Athenry. The Court will be at hearing on Monday the 4 March and Wednesday the 6 March while giving seminars for students on Tuesday the 5 March, 2019.

NUI Galway in association with the GSBA will host a dinner on Monday the 4 March, 2019 from 18:00 in the Ardilaun Hotel and this will include a CPD seminar to be given by the Hon. Mr. Justice Frank Clarke, Chief Justice.

This truly is a momentous occasion and I would invite and encourage all practitioners to attend.
