Free online CPD Event: A Practitioner’s Guide to the Rights of Families at Inquests – Monday 11 Dec 4:30pm

Dear Colleagues,

The Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission are running a free online CPD on ‘Practitioner’s Guide to the Rights of Families at Inquests’ from 4.30pm to 6pm on Monday 11 December 2023, chaired by Michael O’Neill, their Head of Legal. Please RSVP by 6 December 2023 to rsvp@ihrec.ie. 1 CPD point will be available for attendance.

In 2022, the IHREC published an Information Note to provide guidance to bereaved families on their engagement with the inquest (investigation of deaths) process conducted by a coroner under the Coroners Acts 1962-2020. Click here to view note.

The Information Note gives families a roadmap of the law, standards and procedures that apply at inquests, with a particular emphasis on their rights under human rights and equality law.

Speakers at the webinar will discuss the practical issues that families and practitioners face during the course of an inquest, with a particular emphasis on the rights of families in these situations.
