Lottery Licences

Dear Colleagues,

Pattie Mulkerrin has asked me to circulate the below information regarding lottery licences

Kind regards,

John Martin

There appears to be some confusion over the new procedures for lottery licences.  The Gaming and Lotteries (Amendment) Act 2019 commenced on the 1st December 2020.
Effectively, there are two major changes:

(1) The Lottery applications must be made to the Court not less than 60 days prior to the promotion of the said lottery, and

(2) A new ‘Register of Lottery Licences’ must be kept and made available for public inspection.

Therefore, if you apply at the Applications court for a Lottery licence, the effective date is 60 days from that date.  For example, Lottery Licences applied for at the 5th October Applications court will have a start date on the 5th December.  If it’s an annual licence it will run from the 5th December 2021 to the 4th December 2022.  Come this time next year, the renewal would be applied for in October 2022 to start on the 5th December 2022.

I hope this clarifies.

Thanks

Pattie
