further changes to GSBA Free CPD schedule Autumn 2016

Dear Colleagues

There have been a few small changes and some additions to our Autumn CPD schedule.

You might re-pencil the following dates in to your diary. All of these seminars will be held in Galway Courthouse and commence at 2pm sharp.

Friday 30th September 2016 – 2 hrs General, 1 hr Management & 1 hr Regulatory (sponsored by Davys)

Friday 25th November 2016 – 2 Hours General – co-hosted by the Irish Centre for European Law

  • Marguerite Angelari, attorney, Open Society Justice Initiative – The debtor as a consumer, an overview of the key provisions of the UCTD and relevant case law
  • Dr Padraic Kenna, NUI Galway –The key role of the Charter of Fundamental Rights in debt cases
  • Gary Fitzgerald BL, Director of the ICEL – Getting to the European courts, the role of the preliminary reference procedure in debt litigation
  • Madeleine Thornton, solicitor– Putting this into practice – applying EU law to the mortgage contract
